Summary

The General Manager, under the direction of the General Manager of the Cherubini Group of Companies, is primarily responsible for overseeing Quality Blasting & Coating Limited’s day-to-day operations. As an experienced manager in the industrial painting industry, the incumbent will draw on broad, up-to-date knowledge of the industry. The General Manager will set both short-term and long-term objectives for the organization. The incumbent will ensure that company objectives are achieved by guaranteeing that all necessary resources are available and allocated correctly, and that processes and protocols are in place, properly communicated, and followed. The General Manager will provide leadership and guidance to all direct reports. A key element of this position is the ability to assemble and develop an effective management team that will be directly responsible for all aspects of producing, marketing, and selling Quality Blasting & Coating Limited’s products/services.

Job Duties

  • Be an active participant in the Safety Culture of the organization.

  • Understand, implement, and enforce the organization’s safety and environmental programs consistently.

  • Establish objectives for the organization and formulate or approve policies and/or programs.

  • Build and continuously develop an effective management team capable of executing the organization’s identified strategies.

  • Oversee activities directly related to the industrial painting and supply of products, as well as the sales and marketing of products.

  • Allocate materials and people/financial resources to implement company policies and programs, establishing financial and administrative controls.

  • Implement and drive lean industrial painting concepts throughout the industrial painting process.

  • Review financial statements, sales and activity reports, and other performance data to measure productivity and goal achievement to determine areas requiring improvement.

  • Identify, analyze, and implement cost reduction strategies that contribute to the production facility’s efficient and profitable operation.

  • Recruit, retain, and performance manage employees.

  • Protect the organization’s value by keeping all protected and proprietary information confidential.

  • Consistently display professionalism, tact, diplomacy, and sensitivity to portray the company in a positive manner.

 

Requirements

  • 5+ years of work experience in a managerial capacity.

  • 5+ years of work experience in the industrial painting, manufacturing, or construction industry considered an asset.

  • University degree or college diploma in engineering, business administration, commerce, or other relevant discipline is considered an asset.

  • Excellent understanding of sales, finance, and management.

  • Proven record of performance with set goals.

  • Excellent oral, written, and listening skills.

  • Judgement and decision-making skills with the ability to consider the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose appropriate action(s).

  • Ability to identify measures of performance and actions needed to improve performance to achieve organizational goals and objectives.

  • Ability to delegate, set expectations, and monitor progress of all direct reports.

  • Ability to motivate, inspire, and provide feedback to employees, as well as accepting and acting on feedback from employees.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and use time effectively in order to set action plans to achieve business targets.
