Quality Blasting & Coating Limited, a member of the Cherubini Group of Companies, is currently looking for a full-time permanent Cleaner in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.

Reports To: Foreman

Summary

The Industrial Blasting/Coating shop Labourer will be required to perform tasks involving physical labor at the Industrial paint shop and will be required to operate a variety of hand and power tools. Responsibilities will include the cleaning and preparation of projects, erecting scaffolding, cleaning up rubble and debris and removal of waste materials. Must be capable of operating a variety of equipment.

Job Duties

  • Clean and perform preparation of worksite.

  • Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials.

  • Spray materials such as water, sand, steam, vinyl, paint, or stucco through hoses to clean, coat, or seal surfaces.

  • Tend machines that pump sand.

  • Utilize pumps, compressors, and generators to provide power for tools, machinery, and equipment.

  • Lubricate, clean, maintain and repair machinery, equipment, and tools.

  • Clean and prepare work sites to eliminate possible hazards.

  • Erect and disassemble scaffolding, shoring, braces, ramps, and other temporary structures.

  • Load, unload, and identify building materials, machinery, and tools, and distribute them to the appropriate locations, according to project plans and specifications.

  • Identify, pack, and transport hazardous materials.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent

  • Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures

  • Knowledge of First Aid and CPR preferred

  • Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner

  • Working mechanical knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.

  • Ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.

Work Conditions

  • Job requires ability to work with various tools and materials.

  • Ability to lift and manipulate objects of up to 80 lbs for 50 feet is required.

  • Use of Personal Protection Equipment will be required (e.g. hard-hat, safety boots, etc.)

  • Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust.

  • Must be able to lift, push, pull or carry objects, use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue and to effectively jump, sprint or throw an object.

  • Requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination.

  • Noise level is generally loud.

  • Must be able to quickly move arms and legs.

  • Excellent stamina is required.

  • Hazards associated with the industrial setting.
