Parts Clerk

 

Burnside Truck Center, a member of the Cherubini Group of Companies, is currently looking for a full-time permanent Parts Clerk in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.

Summary

The Parts Counter Staff receives and processes orders by mechanics or by telephone using the BTC computer database and parts catalogues as necessary. He/she performs a variety of clerical duties, including resourcing, checking inventory for product availability. The Parts Clerk prepares and maintains the client lists, and purchase orders with receipts and makes routine decisions according to company policies and guidelines. The Parts Clerk Staff must load and unload shipments regularly. Other responsibilities will include ensuring the cleanliness, safety and accessibility of the parts counter for employees.

Job Duties

  • Assist with shipping and receiving, unloading trucks, checking in merchandise, matching purchase orders to sales orders.

  • Placing orders, shipping orders, or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed and/or shipped.

  • Moving materials and items from receiving or storage areas to shipping or to other designated areas.

  • Sorting and placing materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code.

  • Filling requisitions, or requests for materials, tools, or other stock items.

  • Ensuring store is accessible and safe for employee, mechanics.

  • Assembling orders from mechanics.

  • Marking materials with identifying information using appropriate method.

  • Opening bales, crates, and other containers.

  • Recording amounts of materials or items received or distributed via appropriate computer program.

  • Assisting in counting of physical inventory.

  • May be assigned facilities’ maintenance duties as needed.

  • Preparing parcels for mailing.

  • Organizing warehouse and work area for orderliness at all times.

  • Wearing proper safety equipment.

  • Oversees and participates in the receiving, organizing, storing and issuing of goods including supplies, equipment.

  • Receives stock and non-stock items for the purpose of ensuring specifications, quantity and quality of orders are correct.

  • Prepares orders by either pulling from stock or securing test boxes for the purpose of meeting delivery requirements.

  • Periodically examines physical inventories for the purpose of verifying stock and identifying losses.

  • Responds to inquiries of staff.

  • Maintains documents, files and records (e.g. tracking for the purpose of documenting activities and providing materials and reliable resource information.)

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements

  • Prefer High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

  • Parts knowledge a definite asset.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.

  • Basic mathematical skills.

  • Working knowledge of safe lifting methods.

  • Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently.

  • Computer literacy, including working skills of Excel and e-mail.

  • Attention to detail in all areas of work.

  • Good organizational, time management and prioritization skills.

  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.

 

Work Conditions

  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.

  • Overtime as required.
