Industrial Blasting/Coating Shop Labourer

Quality Blasting & Coating Limited, a member of the Cherubini Group of Companies, is currently looking for full-time permanent Apprentice Industrial Blaster/Painters in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.

Summary

The Apprentice Industrial Blaster/Painter will be required to perform tasks involving physical labour at the Industrial paint shop and will be required to operate a variety of hand and power tools. Responsibilities will include the cleaning and preparation of projects, erecting scaffolding, cleaning up rubble and debris and removal of waste materials. Must be capable of operating a variety of equipment and must be willing to learn and get trained to be an Industrial Painter/Sandblaster.

No previous experience is required. All training will be provided. Willingness to work in an industrial setting is required. 

Job Duties

  • Clean and perform preparation of worksite.
  • Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials.
  • Utilize pumps, compressors, and generators to provide power for tools, machinery, and equipment.
  • Lubricate, clean, maintain and repair machinery, equipment, and tools.
  • Clean and prepare work sites to eliminate possible hazards.
  • Load, unload, and identify building materials, machinery, and tools, and distribute them to the appropriate locations, according to project plans and specifications.
  • Identify, pack, and transport hazardous materials.
  • Education and training to develop the skills required for Industrial Blasting/Coating.

  • Ability to work in a loud industrial setting
  • Working mechanical knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.

Work Conditions

  • Job requires ability to work with various tools and materials
  • Ability to lift and manipulate objects of up to 50lbs
  • Use of Personal Protection Equipment will be required (e.g. hard-hat, safety boots, etc.)
  • Respiratory Protection will be required at times
  • Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust
  • Noise level is generally loud
  • Must be able to quickly move arms and legs
  • Physical stamina
  • Hazards associated with the industrial setting
  • Overtime as required

 

The starting rate for this position is $18.00 per hour, with an increase to $21.00 after the successful completion of the three-month probationary period. Opportunities for growth within the company are available for those that complete the Apprenticeship Program.
