Project Manager
Cherubini Bridges and Structures, a member of the Cherubini Group of Companies, is seeking a Senior Project Manager to join our team in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.
This role might be right for you if you have a background in steel construction and experience leading custom fabrication projects from contract through completion.
With more than 50 years of experience, Cherubini is a trusted partner on complex steel fabrication and bridge projects across Canada and the United States. Our work supports major transportation and infrastructure initiatives, delivered through in-house expertise in bridge structures, structural steel, offshore structures, and miscellaneous steel.
The successful candidate will take ownership of challenging, high-profile projects while working within a collaborative, technically strong, and hands-on project delivery environment. They will be responsible for the overall technical, financial, and operational performance of assigned projects and serves as the primary point of contact for clients and internal stakeholders.
We're looking for someone with strong leadership skills, sound commercial judgment, and the ability to manage complex scopes while maintaining schedule, budget, safey, and quality expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Safety

Act as a visible ambassador for Cherubini’s Safety Program, promoting a strong safety culture across the office, shop, and job sites.

Ensure projects are planned and executed in compliance with applicable safety regulations and company standards.
Project & Financial Management

Develop and manage project budgets based on approved estimates, monitoring costs, cash flow, and financial performance throughout the project lifecycle.

Manage contract changes, including pricing, schedule impacts, and documentation.

Prepare project billings, financial reports, and support collections as required.

Issue purchasing requisitions and approve invoices in accordance with project and company controls.
Technical Oversight

Maintain a thorough understanding of project contracts, drawings, and technical requirements.

Oversee the preparation, review, and coordination of shop drawings, erection plans, RFIs, and work packages.

Ensure timely flow of information between engineering, fabrication, and erection teams.
Leadership & Client Relations

Serve as the primary client contact, developing strong relationships to support successful project delivery and future opportunities.

Mentor and guide project coordinators and junior project management staff.

Maintain regular presence in the shop and on site to monitor progress, address issues proactively, and support teams firsthand.

Track project status from start to finish, identifying risks and driving solutions.
Administration & Closeout

Coordinate sub-trade and supplier pricing for labour, materials, and equipment.

Prepare project debriefs and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Ensure proper documentation and closeout of projects.
Qualifications

At least seven years of project management experience in the construction industry. Preference will be given to those with at least 3 years of experience managing custom steel fabrication and/or bridge projects.

Post-secondary education in Engineering, Construction Management, or an equivalent combination of technical training and experience.

PMP certification or familiarity with PMI best practices is considered an asset.

Solid understanding of construction contracts, drawings, specifications, and fabrication processes.

Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization.

Experience using web-based project management and project tracking tools.

Working knowledge of occupational health and safety requirements, including the Nova Scotia OH&S Act.
