Project Manager

We specialize in a full range of bridge structures, structural steel, offshore structures, and miscellaneous steel. Cherubini is proud to provide a full range of project services from fabrication, to metalizing, to transportation, and erection.

We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented Project Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the technical and fiscal management of projects from inception to completion. The Project Manager will be/become fully familiar with project contracts and technical requirements, serving as the primary point of contact for clients, attending meetings as necessary, and developing and maintaining strong customer relationships.

Responsibilities

The Project Manager will be responsible for the following:

1. Safety – Act as an ambassador for Cherubini’s Safety Program by advocating for the health and wellbeing of yourself and others in the office, on site, and in the shop.

2. Finance – Prepare project budgets based on the estimate and monitor/manage fiscal aspects of the project from start to end. Prepare financial reports as required. Manage and oversee any contract changes, including cost and schedule estimates. Prepare contract billings and assist with collections as needed. Issue purchasing requisitions. Approve payment of invoices as required.

3. Technical – Maintain intimate familiarity with both the contractual and technical requirements of designated projects. Manage the preparation of shop drawings and erection plans. Review design and shop drawings. Prepare requests for information and ensure prompt follow up. Prepare and issue work packages to the shop floor.

4. Leadership – Develop and maintain customer relationships to enhance Cherubini’s ability to procure projects, reduce risk, and ensure operational efficiency. Mentor project coordinators. Make regular visits to the shop and site to monitor and manage projects firsthand. Track project status from beginning to end.

5. Administration – Prepare technical and financial project debriefs. Solicit and coordinate sub-trade bids and supplier quotes for labour, material, and equipment to meet project specs and budget requirements. Manage the purchasing of materials and services to execute the contract.

 

Requirements

Minimum five years experience as a project manager in a similar capacity. For us, a similar capacity means you have proven experience in estimating, cost control, and/or engineering in a comparable construction environment.

Preference will be given to those with previous experience steel fabrication experience.

Post-Secondary Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or the equivalent combination of technical training and related experience.

PMP Certification and/or familiarity with the PMP Body of Knowledge is considered an asset.

Thorough knowledge and understanding of general and subcontract documents, drawings, specifications, construction means, methods, and materials.

Excellent relationship building and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively amongst and between all levels of Cherubini, customers, and vendors.

Familiarity with web-based project management software tools for managing and tracking projects and tasks.

Maintain working knowledge of Cherubini’s Safety Program, relevant requirements and regulations, and a basic understanding of the NS OH&S Act.

The ability to relocate to Dartmouth, Nova Scotia to work out of our main offices prior to beginning work with Cherubini.
