The role leads purchasing, sourcing, supplier relationships, and inventory management while working closely with Finance, Operations, Project Management, Estimating, suppliers, and the shop floor to ensure materials and services are sourced on time, at the right cost, and with the required documentation.

What You'll Do

• Lead purchasing activities to support project schedules, production priorities, budget expectations, and business needs.
• Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, including evaluating supplier performance, pricing, lead times, risk, and reliability.
• Source materials and services based on specifications, availability, cost, quality, delivery needs, and project requirements.
• Monitor steel market conditions, commodity pricing, tariffs, exchange rates, freight challenges, and supply chain risks.
• Support accurate inventory management, including stock levels, usage patterns, slow-moving material, emergency purchases, and reporting improvements.
• Ensure required quality and traceability documentation is collected, reviewed, maintained, and handed off properly.
• Work closely with Finance, Operations, Estimating, Project Management, Quality, and suppliers to resolve issues and keep work moving.
• Lead, coach, and support the purchasing team by setting clear expectations, managing priorities, improving processes, and holding the team accountable.
• Model respectful, ethical, and values-based leadership while promoting trust, openness, safety, and a supportive team environment.
• Use ERP and purchasing data to troubleshoot issues, improve reporting, identify bottlenecks, and support better decision-making.

What We're Looking For

• Experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain, inventory management, or a related leadership role.
• Strong understanding of pricing, quantities, lead times, material comparisons, supplier performance, and cost control.
• Ability to manage changing priorities in a project-based or manufacturing environment.
• Clear, direct, and consistent communication style.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions using purchasing data and operational input.
• Experience leading or supporting a team, including coaching, prioritizing work, and improving accountability.
• Comfort working with ERP systems, purchasing records, inventory reporting, and process improvement including data analysis and excel.
• A practical, positive, and adaptable approach, with a focus on continual learning and improvement.
• Required leadership approach that reflects respect for the workplace, strong ethics, trust, openness, supportive communication, and the ability to stay calm and knowledgeable under pressure.
