MacDonald Bridge Othrotropic Deck Replacement

The Angus L. MacDonald Bridge is located in Halifax and Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada. “The Big Lift” project was the replacement of the orthotropic deck. The redecking of the MacDonald bridge began on October 18th, 2015 with the first section being removed. Cherubini fabricated all the orthotropic decks for the project. There were 46 deck sections fabricated weighing approximately 150 tons each. Each section was complete with wearing surface, railings for vehicle traffic, pedestrian and bicycles.
